What grades are served?
The Mercer Island Girls Basketball Booster Club supports girls’ basketball 5th – 12th grade.
When are tryouts for the girls’ teams?
MIGB runs the girls’ select basketball program 5th-8th grade. 2-day tryouts are usually in mid-late September with practices 2x per week beginning immediately. Players are expected to attend both days of tryouts. Parent informational meeting will be held following the formation of the teams. Any questions - please email migirlsbball@gmail.com.
Can parents/family members watch the MI Girls select tryouts?
Tryouts are closed to viewers. The players, coaches and evaluators will be the only persons allowed in the gym.
Can my 4th grader tryout for the 5th grade team?
Your child is encouraged to try out for the experience, but we will not displace a 5th grade player from the team for a 4th grade player.
Who are the evaluators?
We will have a committee of evaluators for each tryout that consist of the select coaches, high school coaches, board members, and independent evaluators from the basketball community.
When will the tryout results be posted?
Results will be posted on our website (migb.org) the day following tryouts. If you have been selected for a team you will need to complete registration via the link emailed to you on that day.
There will be a Player and Parent meeting held as soon as possible after teams are formed, uniforms will be available to try on and order if needed.
Who are the coaches?
We have a list of our coaches and their bios under the coaches tab.
When does the season start?
The season will start in mid-October with practices. League games will begin in December, but the teams will play in a tournament in November.
Practice schedules will be determined prior to tryouts.
Teams will practice 2 times per week and play games on Saturday and/or Sundays during the season. Teams will play approximately 20 league games plus tournament games. Season ends in early March.

What is the cost of the Select Program?
In addition to the program fee, you will be required to purchase a uniform and if your team qualifies for state there will be additional costs: travel, hotel, team dinner and the team also covers the coaches travel for that weekend. The State Tournament is in Spokane in March, you will receive more information about this as the season starts.
